About this blog

I am one of those people who can't NOT write. Any time I'm sitting there staring off into space, there is probably a good reason for it... I'm writing. Writing does not always mean putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Just as often it is figuring out how to craft the perfect line in a poem so that it has the proper melodic flow. Other times, it's working out a tangle in the plot of some story you're writing. Or plotting how to kill your main character.

Any way you look at it, writing is one of those passions that drives nearly all thought. The most simple of circumstances can be the perfect clue for what to do next in your story. Everything is grist for the mill.

I am hoping to use this blog as a jumping point for myself and any other writers out there to engage in conversation about writing. Whether it be critiques about pieces that have already been written, commiseration about writer's block, or shouting to the world about having a piece published. I am also wanting this to be a platform for launching interest in my own writings, I can't lie about that.

I'm not a particularly talkative person, usually I'm the one standing at the edge of a group listening to everything being said, but contributing very little. I've been told that the only way to really get to know me without spending years gleaning nuggets of information is to read my writings. While I know that this really holds true for most writers, I can't deny that it's the truth when it comes to me.

So, if you're ready for some interesting reading, and are braced to deal with my twisted sense of humor, welcome! If you're interested in getting a little more general information about me, check out my facebook page!

  1. I periodically find myself thinking up plots. Sometimes they interrupt the things that I am doing to the point where I can't remember what I was supposed to be doing. How do you find time to write? It seems like life is always busy and there are only enough bits sometimes to catch a couple of winks to recharge. Do you find a certain time of the day where your creative juices are flowing and there is no holding you back?

  2. Mostly, I write where ever and when ever I can. I'm a night owl, and I really like to use the quiet dead of night to get writing done. It probably helps that I don't require much sleep, so losing an hour or so sleep each day isn't too bad. Sometimes you just have to train your family to give you time alone to write. It can take some doing, especially if you have small children but if you start small, say 15 minutes a day, they can learn the signs that you are trying to work. Some people write best early in the morning, so you can get up a little early, or take advantage of multitasking and write while you're eating your lunch. It actually requires a fair amount of creativity to find the time to be creative, but it is more than worth it.
